Mailing Country Default USA

Mailing Country Default United States

Hi everyone

I came across this interesting 'quirk/undiscovered feature' of Salesforce and just wanted to share it with you all.

I was running a Contact report with all of the results grouped by Mailing Country.

When I opened several of the Contacts who were showing as the "United States" as their Mailing Country the values were actually blank.

So what was going on?

It turns out that the standard Contact report in Salesforce has a Quirk/Feature/Weird that displays a Mailing Country as the United States if the value is blank. If you edit the record and populate another Country then it corrects itself.

I had a look at the Success Community and the recommended workaround is to use a Custom Type report on Contact rather than the standard report Contact.
